Newgrove has an excellent and varied menu. All our food is home made on the premises by our team of experienced cooks. Our residents are encouraged to join the other residents for their meals, but they can enjoy a relaxed breakfast in bed, if this is what they want.

 

Breakfast usually comprises of a choice of fruit juices, cereals and/or porridge followed by toast, jams, marmalade, tea or coffee and fresh fruit.  Our residents can choose to have a hot breakfast also, if this is what they would prefer but most do not because they look forward to the main meal served at about mid-day.

 

The main meal is a two course lunch, always with an alternative choice and this is plentiful, delicious and nutritious.  Usually Fridays’ are fish and chips days and Sundays is the traditional roast with a complete menu of different roasts on different Sundays.  We also have a choice of at lest 2 desserts and a choice of fresh fruit is available also.  We are able to cater for special meals such as diabetic and low fat diets. We also appreciate that some residents have smaller appetites than others and staff come to know very quickly what our residents like and do not like.

 

Evening tea is about 4:30 – 5 pm.  Sometimes there is soup in the evenings but a resident can always ask for a hot soup is this is what they would like. There are a variety of sandwiches and a choice of a hot dish like chilli con carne, savoury rice, egg on toast, cheese on toast, spaghetti, tomatotes, fish fingers and chips, fish cakes and chips, salad i.e. a very wide varied evening menu.  A sweet dish is also always available during tea time.

 

Supper is around 7:30 pm with a choice of drinks like Ovaltine, Horlicks, chocolate, tea, coffee and sandwiches and biscuits.  Most residents prefer to have this supper in their own room but again the choice of where to have their supper is left to them.

 

In addition to the main meals, tea, coffee and biscuits are served throughout the day.   Our

 

fully equipped kitchen is fitted with stainless steel units and all the latest equipment for maximum hygiene and comfort. Birthdays are a special event at Newgrove and it is rare that a resident's birthday will go unnoticed or uncelebrated with a cake baked in the premises shared with all the other residents.
